A Texas woman hiking the Sunset Vista Trail on Picacho Peak died Wednesday apparently of heat-related causes, authorities say.
The 29-year-old woman, who was vacationing with her fiancé in the Phoenix-area, became disoriented shortly before 2:30 p.m., said Mark Clark, a Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
Sheriff's search and rescue team arrived with paramedics and reached the woman who was half-a-mile from the trailhead.
Emergency life-saving efforts were unsuccessful an she was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3 p.m., Clark said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was hiking with her fiancé, said Clark.
