A 23-year-old Rio Rico man is accused of carrying a gaming system filled with methamphetamine across the border at Nogales, officials say.
Jesus Enrique Tolano, 23, was stopped on the Morley pedestrian crossing Sunday. Border officers say they found more than 3 pounds of meth stuffed in the gaming system. The meth was valued at about $10,000, a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
A day earlier, officers at the Nogales crossing arrested Jesus Julian Montiel-Portillo, 24, from Nogales, Sonora, after a drug dog alerted to the Jeep SUV he was driving. During an inspection, officers found nearly 40 pounds of heroin hidden in a firewall, the release says. The heroin had an estimated street value of about $560,000.
Officers processed all drugs and vehicles involved in the separate cases and referred both men to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the release said.
