The wrong-way driver killed in a crash on Interstate 10 early Wednesday morning has been identified.
Brian Valenzuela, 25, of Tucson, entered the eastbound lanes of the freeway at Congress Street shortly after 1 a.m., a state Department of Public Safety news release said.
He drove a Honda sedan in the wrong direction until crashing head-on into a tractor trailer rig, the release said. Valenzuela was killed in the crash.
The semi driver, Joel Gerzoff, 43, from Glendale, was unhurt.
The wreck prompted the closure of the eastbound lanes of the freeway until about 7 a.m.
The investigation continues.
