A local animal charity group is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a dog found hanging by a rope at Kino Sports Complex Tuesday.
Tucson Police contacted Pima Animal Care Center at about 8 a.m. to assist in retrieving the dog, said PACC spokesman Kristin Barney.
Sunny, an adult female Shepherd mix, was seen by a vet shortly after arriving at the shelter and has been under constant monitoring, Barney said.
"She's in stable but guarded condition, but it's tough to say what the prognosis is," she said.
In response to the crime, Tucson-based Animal Defense Council put out a release Wednesday offering the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
Tucson police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
