Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized nearly a ton of marijuana from a stolen vehicle on the Tohono O'odham reservation Thursday.
The 1,900 pounds of pot has a street value of nearly $1 million, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
At about 11:30 a.m., agents responded to a citizen’s report of suspicious vehicles in the desert near the village of Sil Nakya, west of Tucson.
When agents arrived they discovered and followed a set of tire tracks. Agents found an abandoned GMC Yukon containing 91 bundles of marijuana, the release said.
No smugglers were located. Records show the vehicle was reported stolen out of Glendale.
