A 27-year-old Tucson woman was arrested Friday, after she fled a local hospital with her baby who had a serious head injury, authorities said.
On Dec. 1, deputies responded to Northwest Medical Center to reports that Roxanne Stoffel left the hospital with her 15-month-old baby after learning the child had a serious head injury, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
Deputies located Stoffel at a nearby bus stop, and her baby was taken by ambulance to Banner University Medical Center, Inglett said.
Detectives with the crimes against children unit took over the investigation and arrested Stoffel Friday in connection with her baby's injuries.
The baby is now in good condition, and she and her seven-year-old sister are in the custody of the Department of Child Safety, Inglett said.
