A Sonora man was arrested Wednesday at the Nogales border trying to smuggle nearly 7,400 pounds of marijuana into the United States.
A narcotics detection dog sniffed out the pot mixed with a shipment of tomatoes in a tractor-trailer driven by Cuauhtemoc Lopez-Cabrera, 30, of Nogales, Sonora, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release stated.
The 315 bales of marijuana had a street value of almost $3.7 million.
The drugs and tractor-trailer were seized.
Lopez was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
