A Tucson man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for heroin trafficking.
Alejandro Andres Lopez, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Cindy K. Jorgenson to 121 months in prison. He had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin.
Authorities said Lopez was part of a Mexican-based drug trafficking gang that shipped kilogram quantities of heroin throughout the Western United States, including Denver and Portland. Lopez was responsible for transporting and storing heroin for distribution.
During the investigation, authorities seized 40 kilograms of heroin from Lopez' house.
