Border Patrol agents from the Sonoita area seized a ton of marijuana worth about $1 million on Friday.
Two illegal immigrants were arrested in the incident, said Customs and Border Protection.
Agents tried to stop a truck on Arizona 83 but the vehicle fled, CBP said. Agents used road spikes to stop the truck and the two occupants ran from the truck.
A helicopter from the Office of Air and Marine, Tucson Air Branch, was called in and helped agents on the ground locate and arrest the two occupants.
Agents found 178 bundles of marijuana weighing about 2,200 pounds in the truck as well as a gram of cocaine on the two occupants.
Agents seized the drugs and vehicle and turned to two occupants over for prosecution.
