About 175 JTED students from 10 high schools in Southern Arizona competed in the 2020 Region 6 SkillsUSA Construction Championship at Catalina High School in Tucson on Jan. 31, 2020. Students demonstrated skills learned to more than a dozen local construction companies who sponsored the event. Competition areas included construction tech, advanced carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, cabinetry, HVAC, teamworks, and sheet metal. Students were scored and awarded based on criteria established by the sponsoring contractors. Students can advance to the state skills championship in Phoenix and the national championship in Kansas City.
