A 21-year-old man was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday on Tucson's east side, police said.
Cody William Duncan-Olivas died in the crash, which occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. at South Harrison Road and East Gershon Lane, Tucson police said in a news release.
Detectives determined Duncan-Olivas was driving north on Harrison in the median lane at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the white 2002 Acura RSX, drove off the road and struck a metal power pole.
"Excessive speed and failure to reduce/control speed to avoid a collision are the known contributing factors of the collision at this time. Detectives noted that wet roadways and poor tire tread also contributed to the collision," police said in the release.
