The first of four public meetings intended to provide a road map for the future of the Central Terminal and its connection to the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood will be held virtually at 6 p.m. Oct. 8.
The plan being initiated by the Central Terminal Restoration Corp., the property's not-for-profit owner, will build on recommendations made by the Urban Land Institute in 2017, which encouraged the creation of a year-round, regional venue on the former train station's main concourse.
Although the acclaimed art deco terminal saw its last Amtrak train depart in 1979, it remains a prominent structure on the East Side that the Central Terminal Restoration Corp. is hoping to see redeveloped and returned to use. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
