Famed science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury was in Tucson on Sept. 27, 1974, to speak before a joint conference of the Arizona State Library Association and the Arizona Association of Audiovisual Education at the Tucson Community Center. At a news conference, Bradbury talked of the unpredictable nature of the science-fiction film market. Not one to mince his words, he said: "The people at the studios are basically morons when it comes to making decisions." Bradbury lived in Tucson for several years.
