Flying units from across the country are visiting Davis-Monthan Air Force Base for training throughout the month, D-M said:
- Fourteen F-15E Strike Eagles from the 334th Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, arrived Tuesday and will train here until Jan. 15. D-M hosted two F-15 squadrons this summer.
- Two U-28s from the 319th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlbert Field, FL, will train here Jan. 9-15. The U-28 is a single-engine, turboprop-driven reconnaissance plane.
- 10 A-10 Thunderbolt II jets from the 104th Fighter Squadron will train here Jan. 22-Feb. 7. The 104th is part of the Maryland Air National Guard’s 175th Wing.
During their visits, the aircrews will follow all D-M arrival and departure guidelines and adhere to noise-abatement procedures, D-M said.
The F-15E is noisier than the loudest jet operating regularly at D-M, the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
