Mountain Oyster Club to host poker benefit
The Mountain Oyster Club will host the first annual Joe Maierhauser Memorial Texas Hold 'em tournament on Sept. 25.
The tournament will begin with registration at 6 p.m. and play will start at 7 p.m.
The club is located at 6400 El Dorado Circle.
The buy-in is $75 per player and includes $3,000 in chips.
A one-time re-buy during the first hour of play is $35.
To attend, RSVP by Sept. 22.
The tournament also will include a raffle with tickets for $10 each or three for $25.
Proceeds will support Colossal Cave Mountain Park educational programs.

Apple Annie's to hold pie contest, craft fair
Apple Annie's Orchard will host an apple pie competition and country craft fair today and Sunday.
The fair, dubbed the "My-Oh-My Apple Pie Celebration and Country Craft Fair," will begin Saturday with a homemade apple pie competition.
The event also will feature an all-you-can-eat pancake and cider-syrup breakfast and apple-smoked burger lunches.
Part of the proceeds will benefit the Lupus Foundation of Southern Arizona, March of Dimes and Andrea's Closet.
To get to the orchard from Tucson, take Interstate 10 east to Willcox, then take Exit 340. Turn west on Fort Grant Road and travel five and a half miles to the Apple Annie's sign.

Center will explore US-Chinese history
The Tucson Chinese Cultural Center will host a day of Chinese American History Sept. 25 to celebrate the Autumn Moon Festival.
The event will start at 9 a.m. at the center, 1288 W. River Road.
It will include a symposium on Chinese immigration to Southern Arizona from Mexico and the San Francisco Bay area.
At noon, author Christopher Corbett will sign his book, "The Poker Bride," about the Chinese in the Wild West.
The event also will feature the inauguration of an exhibit of historic photos in partnership with the Arizona Historical Society.
Events are free to cultural center members and students, and $5 for visitors.
