Low-income sewer customers can apply for a subsidy under a new Pima County program.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors authorized the program earlier this year to help customers deal with steadily increasing sewer rates.
The Sewer Outreach Subsidy program uses a tiered rate structure based on federal poverty guidelines. To be eligible, a person must be a residential sewer customer, have a water and sewer bill in his name, and meet income guidelines.
The Pima County Community Action Agency is administering the program. Those who are interested in receiving a subsidy can call 243-6794 and leave a message. Someone will reply to schedule an eligibility interview.
