(Updated 7 p.m.) Tucson's midtown and the northwest side got the brunt of Tuesday's storms, which caused some street flooding and scattered power outages.
Tucson Fire Department crews had to assist motorists stuck in rushing water along some major streets, mainly from the University of Arizona north to the East Fort Lowell-North Tucson Boulevard area.
Pima County Regional Flood Control District gauges showed nearly an inch of rain falling in some midtown spots. A rain gauge at the UA recorded .85 of an inch rain Tuesday.
On the northwest side, Marana was hit hard with more than a half-inch of rain recorded at West Ina Road and the Santa Cruz River.
The storms practically missed the official weather service recording station with only a trace of rain report at the Tucson International Airport.
