Three African lion cubs born at the Reid Park Zoo during the summer have met their daddy.
After weeks of visual contact through a secure barrier behind the scenes, father Shombay, mother Kaya and babies made their public debut Tuesday for two hours, zoo officials said in a news release.
Last week, zookeepers started introducing Shombay to the cubs one at a time.
The cubs and Shombay will continue to interact when the zoo opens at 9 a.m.
Keepers will monitor the cubs to decide how long Shombay and the cubs will be on exhibit together each day, but visitors have a good chance of seeing them if they arrive close to opening time, zoo officials said.
The zoo is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 791-4022 for directions and admission information, or go to the zoo's website: tucsonzoo.org
