Flights were delayed an average of nearly 60 minutes on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport because rain caused a ground stop to be ordered, The Arizona Republic reports.
The Federal Aviation Administration ordered the ground stop at 2:45 p.m.; it was scheduled to remain in effect until 4 p.m., but there was up to a 60% chance it would be extended, The Republic reported.Â
Sky Harbor International Airport plans to extend the PHX Sky Train that connects terminals, parking and light rail.
Flights were delayed about 56 minutes on average, The Republic said, citing FAA information.Â
Moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla is moving into Arizona. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch, effective from noon on Friday, Oct. 10, to midnight on Sunday, Oct. 12.
