The lingering effects of the first significant monsoon of the summer thunderstorm season continued Tuesday afternoon, as more than 500 customers remain without power, Tucson Electric Power officials said.
The latest batch of outages, in an area near where Interstate 19 and Interstate 10 meet, occurred about 1:30 p.m. when a cross-arm broke on a power line, causing about 1,500 customers to lose power, TEP spokesman Joseph Barrios said.
All but about 300 of those customers had power restored within 20 minutes, he said.
The broken cross arm is likely the result of "lingering effects" from the overnight storm, Barrios said.
Those who are still without power also include about 220 customers, mostly on the northwest side, who have been without power since around midnight.

The monsoon caused more than 15,000 customers to initially lose power, but 11,000 of those had it back on within an hour, Barrios said.
