Last call for fall.
Leaves of aspen, maple and oak trees glowed in hues of red and gold high in the Catalina Mountains this month - but the color show is winding down quickly.
Sites such as Bear Wallow along the Catalina Highway northeast of Tucson showed brilliant color last weekend.
Unfortunately for avid leaf peepers, windy weather in the mountains this week blew many leaves to the ground.
But diligent color seekers might still find a few trees in fine fall fettle.
And, what the heck, leaves needn't be on the trees to be beautiful. A walk in Bear Wallow, near milepost 22, or Marshall Gulch, south of the village of Summerhaven, will find your feet treading over carpets of color.
