The University of Arizona’s alert system for campus emergencies isn’t just for insiders anymore.
The school is throwing it open for anyone to use — from students, parents and Wildcats fans to members of the public.
The UAlert system — which generates texts or email messages when fires, traffic jams, power failures and other incidents occur on campus — was previously available only to those with UA connections.
Now “anybody can sign up for the service, regardless of whether they are officially affiliated with the UA,” said a news item posted Wednesday on the university’s website.
To sign up visit UA’s home page at arizona.edu , click on the UAlert icon in the bottom left corner and follow the links. The service is free of charge to users.
