Bundles of marijuana dropped from an ultralight plane were seized and two people were arrested Tuesday in Southern Arizona.
At about 3 a.m., Border Patrol agents from the Douglas Station observed the plane fly over the international border from Mexico and later drop the load near Sunsites, Arizona, according to a Customs and Border Protection news release.
Agents from the Willcox Station responded to the site and found one person and a basket with 10 bundles of marijuana weighing nearly 185 pounds, officials said. Th marijuana was worth about $92,000.
A second person was arrested after agents searched the area.
The plane was observed traveling south into Mexico at about 4:45 a.m., officials said.
The suspects, both Mexican nationals, were turned over to federal authorities and the marijuana was seized.
