A Mexican national was arrested Saturday at the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales for attempting to smuggle nearly 33 pounds of methamphetamine into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the man for an additional inspection of his Mazda sedan when he attempted to cross the border. After a CBP dog alerted to the presence of drugs inside the front bumper, officers removed 31 packages of crystal meth worth about $510,000, according to a news release from the agency.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. The man was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
