Funeral services for Nogales Mayor Ignacio J. Barraza have been scheduled for Tuesday.
Barraza, 38, died of heart failure Wednesday morning at University Medical Center in Tucson. Barraza had checked himself in to the hospital on Monday because he was feeling sick. He had a heart transplant about 20 years ago. He had been the mayor of Nogales since January.
Visitation and viewing are scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Nogales High School James K. Clark Auditorium, 1905 N. Apache Blvd. in Nogales, said a press release from the city. A Mass and eulogies will follow at noon.
After the eulogies, the funeral cortege will proceed to City Hall for a final farewell. Barraza is survived by his mother, Jaimina Barraza, and his brother, Marco Mada.
