In multiple incidents over the weekend, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized 2,300 pounds of marijuana and arrested six smugglers, authorities said.
On Friday, with the assistance of detection technology and a helicopter crew from the Office of Air and Marine, Tucson agents discovered six adult males near Santa Cruz, Arizona carrying 12 backpacks of marijuana, according to a U.S. Customs and  Border Protection news release.
The drugs, valued at more than $300,000, was seized and the men were taken into custody.
Casa Grande agents on Saturday discovered more than 800 pounds of abandoned marijuana worth about $400,000 near the Tohono O’odham village of Pisinimo. Although an extensive search of the area was conducted, no suspect was located.
On Sunday, agents patrolling the area near Vekol Valley, Arizona found 19 bundles of abandoned marijuana. Â The drugs are estimated to be worth $444,000.
