Kevin Rotty made a career out of going nowhere fast. A former pro-stock racer and national record holder, Rotty was a perennial top 10 finisher on the drag racing circuit in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was inducted into the Arizona Drag Race Hall of Fame in 2006. On the day he died, Jan. 3, Rotty had just finished a telephone interview with Jim Baker, a Las Vegas-based columnist. Rotty, who was 67, succumbed to a heart attack at the Tucson home he had just finished remodeling. Baker’s article, which includes Rotty, appeared a week later at Drag Racing Online.
