Photos: Historic steam locomotive No. 4014 visits Tucson
Union Pacific's historic Big Boy locomotive No. 4014 arrived at the Historic Train Depot in Tucson on October 17, 2019, as part of UP's recognition of the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad..
In 1941, the Big Boy locomotive 4014 was build and it ran until 1959. Locomotive No. 4014 used to transport freight and is now used for public relations. Locomotive 4014 is the largest locomotive still in operation in the United States. Of the 24 Big Boy locomotives built only eight remain and only one, locomotive No. 4014, is operational.
The train will be on display from 9am-3pm Friday, October 18, at Union Pacific rail yard, East Silverlake Road & East Fairland Stravenue.
