The world lost a shining spirit when Scott passed away much too soon. For his parents, Barb and Drum, he was a joy every day that he lived. He leaves behind his adoring mother Barb, aunts Stacy Guthrie and Kathie Williams, uncle Frank Brown, and cousins Koa Bright and Bubba Brown.
All who knew Scott held his helping hands and welcomed his big heart into their lives. He had friends in all 50 states, swam butterfly and the mile at Rolling Hills Swim Club, Santa Rita Highschool, and Ott Y. Scott earned his undergraduate degree at NAU and master's degree in social work at ASU.
Working at Phoenix Body Positive, he worked with those living with HIV/AIDS, their partners, and families. There, he offered compassionate assistance so others could live positive, authentic lives.
As he worked at Empact Suicide Prevention Center, he saved lives as a crisis counselor. He was devoted to helping family, friends, and everyone live their best lives.
He was a founding member of the Grand Canyon Sisters of Charity. With his fellow Sisters, he fundraised for many good causes with flamboyant skits, costumes, and wild hats. As always, he was the life of the party.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Drum. The three of them, Drum, Barb, and Scooter, as Scott was nicknamed, were the Three Musketeers. Always together, sharing everyday life. Scotter and Drum loved to play tricks on Barb, and the three laughed and loved each other dearly.
Perhaps a quote from his favorite book, James and the Giant Peach says it all.
"Come right up close to me and I will show you something wonderful."The something wonderful was Scott himself. We all know how wonderful he was, and our lives have been made better by knowing him.
