  • Jun 1, 2020 Updated Dec 17, 2020

Two nights of protests in downtown Tucson on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, 2020. On Friday night, a group of about 300 protested. Some people challenged and taunted police. Some broke windows and set minor fires. On Saturday night, on their first pass about 500 protestors made a circuit through downtown, disturbing only traffic. Later things turned violent as a few hundred confronted TPD units at several locations near downtown. Read more here.

By Sunday night, a statewide curfew gave police more power to break up groups early in the evening.
