First day of school for students at Cross Middle School in the Amphitheater School District. 775 students returned to Cross for the 2021-22 school year. The district covers part of Tucson and stretches north into Oro Valley and Marana.
Thursday was also first day of school for the Tucson Unified School District. Sunnyside Schools opened for students on Aug. 4.
