Rock slides briefly closed Mount Lemmon highway Saturday afternoon. Transportation crews cleared the road and it was reopened about 4 p.m.
Rain caused the two slides on the Catalina Highway at mileposts 17.5 and 19. No one was injured in either incident, said Deputy Dawn Hanke, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
There was also a report of a possible sinkhole but it was unfounded, Hanke said.
The National Weather Service said only 0.12 of an inch of rain was recorded on Mount Lemmon but an inch and a half was recorded on Catalina Highway just west of the Palisades Ranger Station. More than two inches of rain fell just southeast of Mount Lemmon.
