Police have identified the victim in this afternoon's fatal collision on the east side as 22-year-old motorcyclist Ryan C. Markham.
A minivan pulled out from behind a stop sign on East Hampton Street to make a left turn onto North Pantano Road in front of Markham, says Sgt. Diana Lopez, a Tucson police spokeswoman.
Markham, who was traveling in the southbound lanes of North Pantano Road, hit the driver's side of the minivan
Lopez says Markham was wearing his helmet, but that he died at the scene of the collision, which occurred around 1 p.m.
The driver of the minivan jumped a curb and smashed into a wall, Lopez says. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, Lopez says. The two minivan passengers weren't injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
