All 45 cats taken from the home of an elderly woman on the west side have been euthanized because they were sick or in poor health, the Pima Animal Care Center said.
The cats were seized from the home in the 100 block of South Grande Avenue on Monday afternoon, said Jayne Cundy, an Animal Care spokeswoman.
The cats had a variety of health problems, including some that were underweight and others with severe respiratory problems, she said.
A veterinarian made the determination to euthanize them after examining the animals, Cundy said.
The woman, in her mid-70s, was cited for unsanitary shelter, failure to provide veterinary care and a lack of proper ventilation.
