A fire that apparently started in the kitchen Sunday morning destroyed a Carl's Jr. restaurant at 6301 E. Grant Road, officials said.
The stubborn fire kept about 35 firefighters busy throughout the morning, said Willie Treatch, a battalion chief with the Rural / Metro Fire Deaprtment. There were no injuries, he said.
No official cause had been determined as of early Sunday afternoon, but Treatch said it appears the fire started in the kitchen, perhaps around the deep fryer.
The fire was reported at about 5:45 a.m. by one of two employees who were preparing to open for business, he said.
