More than 1,000 pounds of marijuana hidden in a flatbed trailer was seized by Border Patrol agents Saturday south of Patagonia, authorities said.
Agents stopped a pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer near the border south of Patagonia, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
As the agents walked up to the truck, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana but could not see it anywhere, the release said.
A drug-sniffing dog was brought in and detected marijuana in the trailer.
Agents found the contraband under wooden planks on the trailer.
The driver was taken into custody, and the vehicle and trailer were seized.
