A horseback rider who was hit by a truck as she was crossing an East Side street Thursday evening died as a result of her injuries, police said Monday.
Laura McKenna, 44, died Saturday at a hospital two days after the accident, which occurred on South Harrison Road near East Pena Drive, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
McKenna was crossing Harrison from west to east around 6:10 p.m. when she was struck by a northbound Ford F-150 pickup, he said.
The horse was pronounced dead at the scene while McKenna was flown to a hospital, he said.
The driver of the truck, who remained at the scene, suffered minor injuries, Pacheco said.
No citations have been issued.
