Golder Ranch Fire District responded to the intersection of Oracle and Eagle Crest Ranch Boulevard for a three-car accident about 6 p.m. today.
When emergency crews arrived they found four patients. Two had to be extricated using specialized tools such as the Jaws of Life.
Three of the four patients were transported to the trauma center at University of Arizona Medical Center - University Campus, including one who was airlifted by Life Net. The fourth patient refused treatment at the scene and accompanied a family member to UMC, Golder Ranch Fire officials said in a news release.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is on scene investigating the cause of the accident and motorists should avoid the area if at all possible.
