A 30-year-old Tucson man will be sentenced to between 16 and 22 years in prison next month after pleading guilty to second-degree murder Thursday in Pima County Superior Court.
Daniel Alonso Aguilar admitted he was responsible for the August 2008 death of Wayne Anthony Johnson, 20.
According to court documents, Johnson persuaded Jonathan Alexander Mantzaridis to help him rob Aguilar, a heroin dealer, near North Mountain Avenue and East Glenn Street.
After taking 7 grams of heroin, a cell phone and $100 from Aguilar, they ran away, but Aguilar began shooting.
Johnson was struck and killed.
Mantzaridis was originally charged with first-degree murder and pleaded guilty to robbery. He was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2009.
