An employee of a bar on Tucson's south side shot and killed an armed patron during a confrontation on the parking lot early this morning, police say.
The shooting happened about 2:15 a.m. at Gitano’s Bar and Grill at 5358 S. Nogales Highway, just south of West Irvington Road, Tucson police said in a news release.
The employee was working security at the bar when police say he and a patron got into an altercation that spilled into the parking lot. That's where the employee shot the patron to death.
Police say the employee admitted to the shooting and was being questioned this morning. The patron was carrying a weapon, police said.
Several people fled from the parking lot before police arrived and investigators ask that witnesses call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
