Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Monday morning in the sandy Rillito River near North Country Club Road, officials said.
Ian Upton, 21, was found dead by the Tucson Fire Department after it received a report of a body in the riverbed near Country Club Road and East Prince Road, said Officer Dallas Wilson, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
The man had identification on him, but investigators did not immediately know if it was his own ID, Wilson said.
Firefighters then contacted the Tucson Police Department.
Detectives are looking into whether the death was a homicide and were waiting for the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests.
