A man died Wednesday evening when he was struck by a train just west of the Amtrak station Downtown, police said.
At 5:52 p.m. Wednesday, police received a call from the Union Pacific train that a man intentionally walked out onto the tracks and stood facing the train, said Sgt. Mark Robinson, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Police are waiting for an autopsy to confirm the identity of the man but said they believe he is a 45-year-old Tucson man who had been reported missing and suicidal by his family.
