The Community Water Company of Green Valley received several calls Friday from customers concerned about a possible fraud scheme.
An unknown person or group has been calling Green Valley-area residents. The callers identify themselves as employees of "the water company" and ask that the residents take part in a water survey. The callers then says the residents have won a "free gift" and ask to deliver it to the residents' homes.
The Community Water Company of Green Valley said it is not conducting any water survey or contest. All of its field employees carry company identification badges, wear uniforms and drive vehicles marked with the company logo.
Water customers are asked to call the company at 625-8409 to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be an employee and to report anyone making a false claim to the Pima County Sheriff's Department or the Sahuarita Police Department.
