Turning unwanted items into wanted items - and raising money in the process - were the goals of an event Saturday at Abounding Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 2450 S. Kolb Road.
Used furniture, kitchen items, clothing, electronics, toys and books were among the things at the church's annual thrift sale.
The fundraiser, organized by Women of the ELCA, helps fund the church's food pantry and other charitable activities.
Unsold merchandise at the end of the day was donated to Posada del Sol Health Care Center.
"We hope to raise $700 to $800," said Marjorie Smith, the sale's chairwoman.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans matches the first $450.
