Gumdrops, wood nymphs, mice and Sugar Plum fairies danced across the stage during Ballet Rincon Academy of Dance's annual recital Sunday at Vail Theatre of the Arts.
The dance academy, in its 10th anniversary season, performed Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" Saturday and Sunday, selling out both shows.
The performance included about 100 children of all ages and dancing levels from beginner to advanced ballet. More than 200 people watched each show.
"It's a wonderful performance for every year they have it," said Ashleigh Pierre, whose niece danced in the recital. "It's really nice that they get a chance to experience and take part in a Christmas tradition such as 'The Nutcracker.' "
