You wouldn't think something called a "Volcano Party" could be so much fun.
But what else would you call a summertime learning experience that had kids making pet rocks and root beer and watching a molten chocolate cake erupt?
Actually, the event Saturday at the Joyner-Green Valley Library, 601 N. La Cañada Drive, was a science education party. In addition to the rocks, root beer and cake, participants had a chance to see how dry ice reacts with different substances . . . and how it creates steam with some of those substances.
All in a day's fun — and all for the love of science.
