By day, they fight fires and rescue kittens from trees as firefighters in Corona de Tucson. By night, they rock out in a band called BobbyG and the Heat, playing concerts every weekend at the Legion Post in Corona de Tucson and a cafe in Vail.
The band was started by Bob Gagliardi and his wife, Marie, about 2 1/2 years ago. He and his wife are retired, but three of the band members are firefighters in Corona de Tucson, including Fire Chief Bruce Whitehouse.
Other members include Doug Roth, assistant chief; Bob Suhocki, who is retired from IBM; and Wren Keller, a firefighter paramedic.
The band performs at 6 p.m. Saturday at J'aime Le Cafe, 13190 E. Colossal Cave Road in Vail.
It also plays most Friday nights at the American Legion Post 109, 15921 S. Houghton Road.
