The Tucson Unified School District was recognized by the EPA as the 2015 Green Power Partner of the Year.
The Environmental Protection Agency honored 25 businesses and organizations for advancing the nation’s renewable energy market.
TUSD’s installation of one of the largest solar generation projects at a K-12 school system in the United States produces nearly 20 million kilowatt-hours of green power a year, representing about 20 percent of the district’s annual electricity use.
The solar arrays were placed at 43 sites across TUSD.
