Toy store Mildred & Dildred holds carnival to benefit 2 local nonprofit organizations

The event benefited local nonprofit organizations Katie’s Heart and Make Way for Books. Katie’s Heart provides new toys to hospitalized children. Make Way for Books promotes early literacy programs.

The children, who won prizes whether they won or lost, also played Dino Dig and Ring Around the Cactus, and did a bean-bag and lily-pad toss. There was also face-painting and an animal balloon maker. Mildred & Dildred, 2905 E. Skyline Drive, hoped to match or exceed the $1,000 that was raised last year to benefit the two groups.

The children, who won prizes whether they won or lost, played a game called Buggy O Bowling, Dino Dig, Ring Around the Cactus, as well as did a bean bag and lily pad toss. There was also face painting and an animal balloon maker. Mildred & Dildred hoped to match or at least exceed the $1,000 that was raised last year to benefit the two organizations. Katie’s Heart, a nonprofit started by Katie Sutherland, is dedicated to providing new toys to hospitalized children throughout the year and during the Holidays. Make Way for Books supports the love of books and reading providing early literacy education, programs and resources to make sharing books an important part of the lives of families.
