The congresswoman from the Bronx who won election in 2018 and has since become synonymous with progressive politics in the United States congratulated Walton for her seeming victory in Tuesday's Democratic mayoral primary.
Walton shocked four-term incumbent Byron W. Brown in Tuesday's Democratic primary for mayor in what may rank as the most historic upset in the city's political history.
It appears the only way four-term incumbent Democrat Byron W. Brown, over whom Walton has claimed victory, can compete in November is through a write-in campaign.
